East Coast Swing is a fun and easy first dance to learn for the new dancer. Commonly known as the Jitterbug, this dance is a 6 count circular dance that is danced to slow, medium and fast music. East Coast Swing is a variation of Lindy Hop that evolved with big band music from the 30s and 40s. Today you can find East Coast Swing being danced to Big Band, Rock, Oldies, Jazz, Country, and Rock-a-Billy music. This dance is a must for all occasions.

East Coast Swing classes are organized by Levels of difficulty. Different class material is offered within each level and is specified by colors.

  • Level I - Red = Intro/Basic material, learn proper frame, dance to different speeds of music, learn fundamentals of turns and leads.
  • Level II - Red = Continuation of basics, introduction to intermediate moves, and basic Charleston.
  • Level III - Red = Continuation of Intermediate Moves and Charleston.
  • Level IV - Red, White, Blue = Advanced Moves
  • Level V - Red, White, Blue = Increased Challenge, high level technique and memory of patterns.
